Pregnancy Planning, Lifestyle and Nutrition (PLaN PLAN logo)

PLaN is a pre-pregnancy planning clinic and educational initiative. It has been developed for women of child bearing age and those considering pregnancy and emphasises the need for pregnancy planning.

PLaN gives women and their partners, information about the need for a healthy lifestyle, nutritional supplementation and general advice about what needs to be 'checked' before falling pregnant.

Planning for healthy pregnancy - factsheets

Providing women with this information prior to seeing a GP will empower them to plan for a pregnancy and encourage them to continue care with their GP before conception and throughout pregnancy and breastfeeding.

The PLaN midwife can also be contacted for general advice regarding early pregnancy and pregnancy care options.

Currently PLaN clinics are held every Wednesday morning

  • 1st and 3rd and 5th Wednesday of each month at the Sexual Health Clinic Sydney Hospital, 9am - 1pm,  9382 7474.
  • 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at the Royal Hospital for Women, Level 0, 9am - 1 pm.

Not Pregnant, Just Looking

Not Pregnant, Just Looking” is a 90 minute programme developed by the PLaN team for couples planning a pregnancy.

Sessions are held on a Tuesday evening every few months at the Women’s Health Institute at the Royal Hospital for Women.

Not Pregnant, Just Looking” provides information by a geneticist, dietician and midwife to couples planning a pregnancy in a small interactive environment. It includes similar information to that provided in the PLaN clinics and also provides information about the models of care available for women who choose to birth at the Royal Hospital for Women.

Although participants can ask general questions during the session they will not be able to have an individual risk assessment  as they would in the PLaN clinic.  Participants in “Not Pregnant, Just Looking” are welcome to attend the PLaN clinic if they have any specific questions or concerns.

“Not Pregnant, Just Looking" sessions for 2018 are:

Tuesdays 13th March, 17th July and 20th November at 7pm.
