Four decades at the forefront of HIV care
This year, the Albion Centre is celebrating 40 years of holistic and comprehensive care for people living with HIV.
To mark this special milestone, a ‘Ruby Red’ themed 40th anniversary celebration was recently held at The Colombian Hotel in Surry Hills bringing together current and former staff, volunteers and dignitaries.
This celebration was an opportunity to honour and reflect on The Albion Centre’s legacy, to recognise the remarkable progress in HIV care and reaffirm SESLHD’s commitment to inclusive and responsive health care.
Those in attendance were privileged to hear from key guests including Professor Julian Gold, former and inaugural Director of the Albion Centre, and clients of the Albion who generously shared their stories, including Antonio:
“Your professional expertise and genuine compassion for every person who walks through these doors is something truly special. Congratulations on 40 years of dedicated service to the HIV community. Your work has changed countless lives, and one of them is me. I wish you many more years of dedicated care and impact.”
Thank you to the following dignitaries who attended the celebrations and shared their reflections: Adam Worling, City of Sydney Councillor representing Clover Moore AO, Lord Mayor of Sydney; Alex Greenwich, Independent Member for Sydney; and Dr Kerry Chant AO PSM, NSW Chief Health Officer and Deputy Secretary, Population and Public Health.
The Albion Centre is an interdisciplinary public healthcare facility with a primary focus on HIV management and is part of South Eastern Sydney Local Health District. You can learn more about the Albion's services on its website.
