Leading with HEART: Future Nurse & Midwife Manager Program
The Nursing and Midwifery Practice and Workforce team has proudly launched the inaugural Leading with HEART - Future Nurse & Midwife Manager Program.
This district-wide program supports the Nursing and Midwifery Strategy: Transforming Person-Centred Cultures 2024-2026 and reflects our strong commitment to developing leadership at all levels. It is a key investment in our future Nurse and Midwife leaders and the positive impact they will have on patients, teams and workforce culture.
The program’s first cohort includes 16 emerging leaders from across the district. The program has been co-designed with our Nursing and Midwifery leaders, Murrumbidgee Local Health District and our academic partner, University of Wollongong. Drawing on lived experience and insights from current NUMs, MUMs, and Nurse/Midwife Managers (NM/MMs), leaders across the district have contributed to the co-design of the program.
Project Executive Sponsor and District Director of Nursing and Midwifery (Acting CE) Kate Hackett, officially opened the program, sharing her leadership journey and reinforcing the importance of person-centred leadership.
The program was made possible through Nursing and Midwifery Office (NaMO) Strategy Reserve funding, with leadership from Project Lead NM Tonia Wilson and Leadership Development Facilitator NM Suzy Murray.
Leading with HEART is more than a program – it is a commitment to building compassionate, capable leaders for the future.
