New Aboriginal Women’s Health Clinic Opens at HealthOne Sutherland

South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) has strengthened access to culturally safe women’s health care with the opening of a new Aboriginal Women’s Health Clinic at HealthOne Sutherland. The clinic provides free, confidential women’s health checks for Aboriginal women, including Cervical Screening Tests with the option of self‑collection.

Delivered by SESLHD’s Women’s Health Program within the Equity and Prevention Service, the nurse‑led clinic is supported by a $100,000 Cancer Institute NSW Cervical Screening Integration Grant and an Aboriginal Women’s Health Coordinator to ensure care is responsive to community needs. This is the second Aboriginal Women’s Health Clinic in the district, building on the successful service established at Gamay Health Hub in La Perouse in 2019.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women experience higher rates of cervical cancer despite it being highly preventable. Flexible screening options, community outreach, and partnerships with lo organisations cal aim to address barriers and support early detection.

The service operates on the first and third Tuesday of every month between 10am to 2pm at HealthOne: The Sutherland Hospital, Cnr Kingsway & Kareena Rd Caringbah NSW 2229. For appointments, please phone the Women’s Health Nurse on 0457 881 350.
