NSW Excellence in Allied Health Awards: Meet our finalists

Two of our own have been named as finalists in the 2026 NSW Excellence in Allied Health Awards – a reflection of the skill, passion and exceptional care they provide to our community.

Ryan Taylor, a proud Ngemba/Murrawarri man, physiotherapist and Aboriginal Allied Health Trainee Coordinator, has been nominated in the Aboriginal Allied Health Professional category.

Ryan’s cultural integrity, clinical excellence and leadership make him a valued Aboriginal Allied Health professional. At Prince of Wales Hospital, Ryan has led transformative initiatives, including Yarning Circles with Aboriginal elders, that have reduced non-attendance rates and strengthened cultural safety in outpatient services.

Ryan also plays a pivotal role in nurturing the future Aboriginal workforce through his dedicated supervision of School-Based Apprentices and Trainees.

Margaret Holyday, Nutrition and Dietetics Advisor and Head of Department at Prince of Wales/Sydney Sydney Eye Hospital, has been nominated as the Allied Health Leader of the Year. Margaret continually exhibits excellence in leadership, always fostering teamwork, innovation and integrity.

Margaret’s achievements include leading a district-wide wellbeing initiative in response to PMES results.

Claire O’Connor, Director of Allied Health said: “Congratulations to Ryan and Margaret for this fitting recognition of all that you do. Your achievements reflect the impact that our Allied Health professions have across our health system every day.”

Cheer Ryan and Margaret on at the awards ceremony on Thursday 26 March 2026. The event will be livestreamed so that everyone can join the celebrations. Make sure to add the event to your calendar
