Our Hospital Security Staff – making a safe and welcome place for everyone

International Security Officers Day is observed annually on 24 July, and South Eastern Sydney Local Health District proudly celebrated the dedication and professionalism of our hospital security officers recently to mark this occasion. Each day our security staff play a vital role in maintaining safety across our facilities, often working behind the scenes to protect patients, staff, and visitors. Whether responding to emergencies, managing challenging situations, or simply offering a reassuring presence, their contribution is invaluable to the smooth operation of our hospitals.

Sharon Carey, General Manager Corporate Services and Diane O’Donahugh, Head of Security Services took the opportunity to visit security staff across the district to hand out certificates of appreciation and to have a chat.

“I would like to thank our security staff, not only for their vigilance and resilience, but for their compassion and commitment to care,” said Sharon.

“Every day they embody the values of integrity and service in their work. They are the quiet guardians of our health system, helping to ensure that our hospitals remain a safe and welcoming place for everyone.”
