Information for Health Professionals - Precision Care Clinic
The Precision Care Clinic is a national quaternary service providing expert molecular interpretation for all cancer types.
Our services include:
- Virtual Molecular Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings to interpret molecular findings, review evidence and support treatment planning with clinically relevant summaries
- Patient consultations (telehealth or in-person) to explain molecular findings and treatment options and implications.
We support clinicians by:
- Reviewing complex molecular findings and assess clinical significance (somatic and germline variants)
- Exploring targeted therapy options based on molecular findings and clinical context
- Providing personalised recommendations through a multidisciplinary team of oncology, genetics, pathology, and bioinformatics experts
- Facilitating clinician participation in case discussions and trainee education
The service supports the primary clinician’s management plan and is not a second opinion service. MDT discussions are held online and accessible to clinicians across Australia.
Funded by the Medical Research Future Fund, the service is currently provided at no cost to clinicians or patients. Participation in our research activities will support scale-up and integration of precision oncology into routine cancer care across Australia.

Cancer patients with biomarker / molecular / genomic results requiring multidisciplinary discussion.
Referrals are accepted from every Australian jurisdiction.
Referrals can be made by treating oncologists nationwide. Referrals should be made through our online referral form. Our online referral form guides you through the required information.
Please provide the following information when referring a patient:
- Patient information
- Cancer diagnosis details
- Cancer treatment details
- Current management plan
- Planned treatment plan (if known)
- Reason for referral
- PCC Referral Stream (MDT only, Oncology, Genetics)
- Existing molecular testing results
- Relevant pathology reports
- Relevant radiology reports
Please highlight the urgency of referral and describe the reason for urgency on referral form.
Once a referral has been received and triaged, the Precision Care Clinic Administration Officer will contact the patient to make an appointment.
If the appointment needs to be cancelled or changed, please ask your patient to call the Nelune Comprehensive Cancer Centre on (02) 9382 5111.
Once a referral has been received and triaged, the Precision Care Clinic Administration Officer will contact the referring clinician with the MDT scheduling and/or patient appointment booking.
New referrals received before 5pm on the Thursday prior, will be discussed at the next scheduled MDT meeting. Those received after will be discussed at the MDT meeting the following fortnight.
Referring clinicians will receive recommendations typically within 7-10 working days after the MDT discussion, depending on case complexity.

This clinic is currently supported by funding from Medicare and the Medical Research Future Fund and there are no costs for referring clinicians or patients.
