Healthy Ageing Program - Exercise Classes

Healthy Ageing Program

The Healthy Ageing Program (HAP) is a community wellness initiative of the Prince of Wales Hospital offering affordable group exercise programs to those who live within the Community Health Services catchment area.

HAP offers land exercise classes through its AIM program and water exercise classes through its WAVES program designed to target people aged 50 and over and younger with ongoing health issues.

The HAP team consists of certified fitness instructors who lead the AIM and WAVES classes alongside qualified staff who can also provide ongoing health coaching to support positive lifestyle changes and assist in the management of chronic disease.

Cost

$65 per term for 1 weekly class (approx. 9-11 weeks).

This nominal fixed fee secures your place in a class for the duration of the term and is not reflective of the number of individual classes attended.

Times & Locations

Classes are held Monday to Friday during school terms in various locations throughout the Eastern Suburbs including Randwick, Kingsford, Kensington, Maroubra, Malabar and Eastlakes.

The AIM program offers safe and enjoyable group exercise classes that accommodate a range of abilities and fitness levels. The classes are designed to enhance balance, strength, flexibility, and endurance in a fun, engaging and supportive environment.

The WAVES program offers warm water group exercise classes that are suitable for those with conditions that effect mobility and flexibility or who have difficulty exercising on land. These classes emphasise the same core fitness components as AIM - balance, strength, flexibility, and endurance – with the added buoyancy of the water environment offering a low impact and alternative way to improve your health.

To be eligible for HAP, you must live within the POWH Community Health Services catchment area. Please refer to the map below.
