“Having a passion for safe patient care is what has always driven me. It's about empowering women and their families, being respectful of their wishes during such an intimate and life changing moment. It’s raw and real.

Pregnancy, labour and post-natal moments create important stories for all women and their families. What matters to me is recognising their desires and collaborating with them so that they feel heard. Becoming a mother changed my outlook. You cannot predict what birth is going to be like and then you have that honest empathy going forward.

I wanted to be a midwife as far back as I can remember. When I was six years old, I recall my mum having antenatal appointments with the local midwife when she was pregnant with my sister. I can’t ever remember wanting to do anything else.”
