The Sutherland Hospital

“I coordinate all the events here at Sutherland Hospital including our annual charity golf day, our annual charity fundraising gala dinner, community and hospital days, awareness days, celebrations, our hospital stalls and food vans and I liaise with our donors and supporters. I also oversee our 150 dedicated hospital volunteers.

One of my volunteers on the information desk, she spoke to a first time father who was pacing around the hospital and he said ‘I don’t think I can do this’, so bless her, she took him for a walk around the hospital grounds and gave him some tips and she was able to encourage him to get up to the delivery suite to support his wife and their first baby. A couple of days later he came back to thank me. He was standing at the front desk in tears saying without her support and help to get him up to the birthing suite he would never have been able to do it. His wife and little boy were there and it was so emotional. I thought just to see one small gesture that could help not only him, but his wife and their little baby, I thought that was so special."
