Nurse Educator, Work Place Capabilities in Person Centred Care

Prince of Wales Hospital

“My passion is self-care and wellbeing for staff.  I know that when the staff look after themselves, they’re in a much better position to be able to reach their professional potential and to be happy and well, while being able to give so much more to the patients they care for.

The Nursewell App is an initiative I’ve been involved in. We wanted to develop a contemporary way of providing wellbeing tools and resources to nurses and midwives in order to enhance their sense of wellness and vitality.  Four key health concerns were identified through the NSW Fit for Future Nurses Study: issues in relation to sleep, poor back health; mental health, nutrition & weight issues. The Louisa Hope Fund for Nurses and a grant from SESLHD helped with its development.  Louisa has been wonderful to work alongside; she is featured on a video in the introduction section reminding us to care for ourselves. Nursewell is free to download and can be of benefit not just to nurses and midwives but for anyone really who is interested in enhancing their self-care and wellbeing.

I love my job.  For me it’s all about cultivating person centred care through kindness and wellness”
