Class of 2024
Celebrations and congratulation were in order across the District with the graduation of the 2024 GradStart and MidStarts Nurses and Midwives.
All graduates have shown exceptional dedication, hard work, and professional growth in reaching this milestone.
Joanne Newbury, Director of Nursing and Midwifery at The Sutherland Hospital, thanked the Nurse and Midwifery Managers, Educators and other staff who play a vital role in guiding and supporting new graduates throughout their journey.
“Your mentorship and encouragement have been instrumental in helping these graduates become confident and capable healthcare professionals. Many graduates have chosen to continue their careers in the District. At The Sutherland Hospital and the Garrawarra Centre, over 85% of the 102 graduates will be staying on.
“This is reflective of the culture of support and commitment nursing, midwifery and education staff have fostered.”
The inaugural cohort of the Sutherland Enrolled Nurse Transition Program also celebrated their graduation.
At Calvary Healthcare Kogarah, four graduates were rotated through two units, completing six months in palliative care and six months in rehabilitation. Of the four graduates, two will be staying on in permanent roles.
At Garrawarra Centre, nine Trainee Assistants in Nursing graduated, and the Lucita Cortez Memorial Award was launched to honour a nurse from Garrawarra who was tragically killed last year.
As these Nurses and Midwives embark on the next chapter of their careers, we wish them continued success, growth, and fulfillment in their careers.
