Community support making a real difference at The Sutherland Hospital
The Sutherland Hospital recently hosted a morning tea to thank and recognise some of the wonderful donors who have contributed generously to the hospital.
Members of the Sovereign Order of St John of Jerusalem – Knights of Malta, The Ecumenical Order – Grand Priory of Australia were recognised for their generous and ongoing support of the expansion of the Bangawarra Cancer Care Centre.
Bill and Fay Gilmour and the extended Gilmour family were recognised for their significant donation that contributed to the establishment of the Satellite Dialysis Unit at Sutherland Hospital. The family of the late Peter O’Reilly, who also donated generously to the Satellite Dialysis Unit, were also in attendance.
Members of the Lions Clubs from the Sutherland and St George areas including Cronulla, Kogarah and Oatley, Blacktown Ponds and the Richard Walter Salmon Foundation were recognised for their donation of a Babyleo Humidicrib to the Special Care Nursery, enhancing the care of premature and critically ill babies.
All the donors were able to see how their contributions have made a positive impact on patients, staff and local community. The Sutherland Hospital was also honoured to place donor plaques on the hospital’s Supporters Wall in recognition of their generosity.
“The fundraising efforts and generosity of our community supporters makes a tangible difference to the care we can provide to our patients”, said Vicki Weeden, General Manager
“The morning tea was not only a lovely way to extend the hospital’s gratitude to our donors but to celebrate our local community as well. A big thank you again to all who attended."
