International Women's Day a sweet affair at The Royal

International Women's Day (8 March) is a milestone event in the annual calendar at the Royal Hospital for Women - and as the state's only hospital dedicated to women's health, marks an opportunity for celebration.

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) threw its support behind International Women's Day this year by delivering sweet surprises for all at The Royal, acknowledging the dedicated staff who work around the clock providing world-class care for women and their families.

Staff were all smiles when they saw the treats, hand delivered by the hospital's Domestic Service team, which rallied together to ensure each and every ward received their morning tea delivery, and with a smile.

As they savoured the moment, colleagues and friends took a moment to chat about how they will choose to challenge gender inequality and celebrate women's achievements, in line with this year's campaign theme: Choose to Challenge.

Donna Garland, Acting General Manager, Royal Hospital for Women said she is inspired every day by her female workforce.

"This is a place where women work together to support, encourage and motivate one another. This culture - where women lift each other up - is what makes this hospital so special. It's part of the reason women and their families receive gold-standard care here at The Royal," Ms Garland said.

"Thank you to PwC for supporting this important day for us, our staff greatly appreciate the kind gesture."

International Women's Day was celebrated across the District, with staff taking a moment out of their busy day to raise their hand in support of this year's Choose to Challenge campaign.
