Introducing Kate Hackett as the District’s Acting Chief Executive
Last week, we farewelled Tobi Wilson following nine years in the District’s leadership team – first as General Manager of the Prince of Wales Hospital and Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital, and most recently as Chief Executive for the District.
Kate Hackett has stepped into the role of Acting Chief Executive for the District. Kate has led several strategic initiatives to enhance patient care and workforce development across the District as the Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services since 2022.
Kate said she is honoured to be given the opportunity to lead the District through this period.
“I am honoured to step into the role of Acting Chief Executive for the District and to have the opportunity to lead our dedicated and passionate Executive Team. While I have already had the opportunity to meet and work with so many of you in my capacity as Director of Nursing and Midwifery, I can’t wait to broaden my scope and connections with all parts of our diverse organisation,” said Kate.
Kate is a passionate advocate for person-centred care, a philosophy she has embedded into District’s Nursing and Midwifery Strategy. Her leadership has been instrumental in fostering a culture of compassion, collaboration, and continuous improvement. As a member of the International Community of Practice for Person-centred Practice (ICoP), she actively contributes to global conversations on nursing excellence and innovation.
Known for her strategic vision and commitment to professional development, Kate’s work has influenced policy, practice, and education, ensuring that the District remains at the forefront of delivering high-quality, patient-focused healthcare.
On behalf of the District’s Board and Executive Team, we thank outgoing Chief Executive, Tobi Wilson, for his significant contribution to the District and wish him well as he embarks on the next phase of his career.
