Kids at Play project now in action at St George Hospital

The Member for Oatley, Mark Coure MP, visited St George Hospital on Friday, 28 June 2019 to officially open the new outdoor play area on the Children’s Ward, part of the Kids at Play project.

The Member for Oatley joined members of the Rotary Club of Hurstville, the Mayor of Georges River Council and staff from St George Hospital including Leisa Rathborne, General Manager; Lorena Matthews, Nurse and Midwife Manager, Women’s and Children’s Health; and Laura Watson, Nurse Unit Manager, Paediatrics; to celebrate the completion of the second phase of the project.

Kids at Play was conceived by the Rotary Club of Hurstville, which also funded refurbishment of an existing outdoor play area, adding a parents’ retreat and indoor play room.

Ms Rathborne said the completed space is a welcome addition to the facilities on the Children’s Ward, and that the benefits can be enjoyed by young patients and their families.

“Our Children’s Ward staff are delighted to see this wonderful facility now available to the children in their care – and their families and visitors,” Ms Rathborne said.

“We are extremely grateful to the Federal and State Governments, the Rotary Club of Hurstville and Georges River Council for supporting Kids at Play.”
