MOB Recommends

Resulting from frequently asked questions during Respecting the Difference training, the Aboriginal Health Directorate’s team asked the District’s Aboriginal workers for their favourite recommendations for a non-Aboriginal person wanting to know more about Aboriginal culture.

MOB Recommends is an ever-expanding list of music, books, podcasts, TV shows, movies and documentaries created by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.

The responses coming in covered a wide range of material.

“My mum saw the book list while she was visiting and she’s a big reader,” Lauren Phillips, Aboriginal Project Officer said.

“She made it her aim to read all the books that she hadn’t already. She loved every one of them and gave me her reviews.  Her recommendation was Jack Charles: Born-again Blackfella, written by Jack Charles, although she did say it was tough going.”
