SESLHD’s Australia Day Honours
Congratulations are in order for Kim Olesen, our Executive Director of Operations, who has been awarded a Public Service Medal in the recently announced Australia Day Honours. Kim was awarded this impressive accolade for outstanding public service to our District, particularly in her work in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
For more than 40 years, Kim has shown incredible dedication and commitment to health care in NSW. As the COVID-19 response lead for our District, Kim spearheaded the comprehensive response efforts essential in managing the crisis effectively.
Kim’s leadership was instrumental in coordinating and implementing strategies to mitigate the spread of the virus, and in establishing the COVID-19 Vaccination Centre at
St George Hospital.
“It’s such an honour to receive this award,” said Kim. “It’s not so much a reflection of me, as of the extraordinary staff I lead. It’s a privilege to be in a leadership role at SESLHD.”
Kim started at our health district as a registered nurse, before making her way up the ranks first as a Nurse Unit Manager, then as Director of Nursing and Midwifery.
Professor Julian Trollor, who was a Psychiatrist and Clinical Academic in neuro and disability psychiatry in the District for almost 30 years up to 2024, also received an accolade. Professor Trollor was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for significant service to people with disability, particularly as a clinician and academic.
