St George Hospital celebrates opening of new Clinical Skills Centre

Staff at St George Hospital joined together on Wednesday 30 November to mark the grand opening of the hospital’s new Clinical Skills Centre (CSC).

The event featured interactive tours for staff members with activities demonstrating the training capabilities of the new and improved centre. Highlights of the day included surgical skills demonstrations, intubation simulations, obstetric and gynaecological procedures and a livestream broadcast from the centre’s new podcast recording studio.

“This dynamic new space expands the range of education and training opportunities available to our staff by equipping the Clinical Skills Centre with state-of-the-art technology,” said Ange Karooz, General Manager, St George Hospital.

“Exciting features such as the podcast recording studio and upgraded audio-visual equipment provide a learning environment where excellence and innovation can continue to thrive in our hospital. It’s our hope that the new centre will become a hub for integrating multidisciplinary training experiences and continuous learning for all our staff.”

Faculty members from over eight different clinical departments worked together behind the scenes to make the day a success, under the invaluable guidance of our long-serving CSC Manager, Kylie Fraser.

“I’d like to thank everyone who came along to the event and especially those who helped run the day’s activities,” said Ms Fraser.

“We are very excited to have the centre located in the very heart of the hospital campus, which will make it so much easier for our colleagues to take advantage of what this facility has to offer. The success of this event shows just how fun and easy it is for staff from all across the campus to collaborate and learn from each other in this amazing environment.”
