Sutherland Mental Health Service staff celebrate ‘Strengthtember’

Staff from Sutherland Mental Health Service celebrated ‘Strengthtember’ recently, where they dressed in pink, and shared a morning or afternoon tea that featured pink food.

Evelyn Chandler, Director, St George/Sutherland Mental Health Service, said the day was to recognise the Strength Model approach to mental health recovery.

“A Strengths Assessment actively engages people in a process where their recovery plan cannot be developed without their collaborative input and engagement. It is hoped that through this process, feelings of hope, self-efficacy, resilience, determination, self-determination and creativity proliferate so that people are able to achieve greater awareness of their own abilities, skills, capacities, and potential,” Ms Chandler said.
