Truckload of donations for farmers from SESLHD staff

The South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) Nursing and Midwifery Executive and Local Health District Charitable Initiatives Working Party would like to thank all staff who generously contributed to the 2018 We Care Christmas charitable giving campaign, which this year supported ‘Feed a Farmer.’

Facility collection points were overwhelmed with donations, which came from a range of departments and services.

The Sutherland Shire Rural Fire Service (RFS) – one of the organisations working with FoodBank to provide non-perishable items to drought-affected farmers in NSW and the ACT this Christmas – brought their truck to pick up donations at Sutherland Hospital, St George Hospital and Calvary Health Care Kogarah.

Meanwhile, other facilities took the time to transport items directly to the RFS.

Kim Olesen, Director, Nursing and Midwifery Services, SESLHD, said the items staff donated were both thoughtful and useful, and will no doubt ease the strain for drought-affected families this Christmas.

“I continue to be humbled by the generosity of SESLHD staff – for their efforts to give back through their work by providing a high standard of health care services, and also during their own time by contributing to charitable initiatives that support our communities," Ms Olesen said.
