Working together to enhance care for our children
In April, a room full of passionate, experienced and dedicated staff from SESLHD Child, Youth & Family, Paediatrics, Mental Health & Disability support services came together for a workshop to drive the actions in the Paediatric Services Review.
The workshop was also attended by Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network colleagues, to understand how we can provide better care for children with complex neurodiversity and behavioural concerns, and best support their families/carers.
During the highly interactive workshop, participants explored our strengths, the challenges of working collaboratively and the different ways to address these challenges.
The day also explored what opportunities we have as a District in working together to realise our Paediatric Services vision:
“To create a seamless, culturally-safe paediatric care experience focused on the well-being of children, young people, and their families by fostering collaboration among healthcare providers and providing high quality care close to home. Together, we are committed to improving health outcomes through a family-centred, child and youth focused equitable approach that supports each child throughout their development.”
Feedback on the workshop has been very positive, expressing the significance of the work and the importance of seeing positive change as a result.
Michelle Jubelin, Director, Child, Youth and Family Services & Paediatric Stream lead reflected on the day: “It was so exciting to bring together executives, paediatric managers, and clinicians from mental health, violence, abuse and neglect, disability, acute and community paediatric services, and Aboriginal colleagues.
“We had some valuable conversations about new ways to work together to better support our paediatric population. The energy in the room was amazing, and so many great ideas were shared throughout the day. I'm really looking forward to building on this momentum and improving how our services work together.”
