This initiative from the Public Health Unit is aimed at improving access to vaccination for patients who attend our health services but may have difficulty accessing a GP. We are working with teams across the District to help embed vaccination into routine healthcare.
Older adults, adults with underlying medical conditions, and pregnant women are eligible for several free vaccinations under the National Immunisation Program, but we know that many miss out. By increasing uptake of influenza, COVID-19, pneumococcal and shingles vaccines we can reduce our patients’ risk of developing severe disease and needing admission. Vaccinating pregnant women against influenza, whooping cough and RSV also protects infants in the early months of life.
For more information see the patient brochure below, talk to your healthcare team, or look out for our vaccine nurses at work.
