Regional Imaging (Wagga)
Overview
Regional Imaging provides medical imaging services (in a rural private hospital and private clinic setting) to both adult and paediatric inpatients and outpatients.
Hardy Avenue is a fully comprehensive site offering MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Mammography, OPG, Nuclear Medicine, MSK, Screening and General X-ray as well as the Regional Imaging Cardiovascular Centre.
This site is co-located within the grounds of Calvary Healthcare, a 104 bed private hospital with ICU facilities, which offers general medical, orthopaedic, general and gynaecological surgery. Co-located at Calvary Hospital is the Riverina Cancer Care Centre which has both medical and radiation oncology.
The aim of the training rotation at 36 Hardy Ave is:
- To encourage the future provision of rural radiology services to the surrounding communities
- To provide a comprehensive educational experience for trainees
- To expose trainees to various practice settings
- To expose trainees to varying approaches to patient management
- To increase the variety of the training experience, by including 36 Hardy Ave as a regional and private site in training delivery
- To support trainees to fulfil curriculum requirements
- Medical Imaging Department - Regional Imaging (Wagga)
- One LAN 3 trainee rotation to Regional Imaging (Wagga) per term.
Trainees rotating to Regional Imaging (Wagga) will be provided with free accommodation, utilities; and reimbursement for a return flight to Sydney, during the rotation.
Notable subspecialties for LAN 3 training purposes includes:
- Diagnostic Mammography;
- Nuclear Medicine;
- Musculoskeletal;
- General MRI; and
- opportunities for basic interventional work and more complex procedures based upon registrar’s aptitude and ability.
