Gentleman in garden setting

Hotel Services Manager

Garrawarra Centre.

“I manage a lot of things not actually to do with the clinical side of the residents' care, such as the food, cleaning, laundry, security and bus transport. I’m in a customer service role, so to look after somebody and make them happy, it’s a good thing. Just putting a smile on somebody’s face inspires me to come to work every day.

I worked in aged care before, and the opportunity came up here. I love the stories that the older generation tell. Everybody’s got a story, everybody’s got a background, no matter where they come from. I find it really interesting.

I stopped smoking about two years ago and I’ve started swimming, so I completed the Shark Island swim not so long ago. It’s just off Cronulla, about a two-and-a-half-kilometre swim. The name doesn’t fill you with confidence.

I'm the resident "Pommie” and I have a passion for cooking different cuisines using Australia's fresh produce. Prior to coming to Australia, I was working as a chef in 4- and 5-star hotels across London. I was also an Executive Sous Chef for major events in Australia such as the Para Olympics and Rugby World Cup. My life is a little less hectic here now.”
