Health Promotion Service

The Health Promotion Service is a unit of the Directorate of Planning, Population Health and Equity.

The Health Promotion Service works in partnership with communities to develop local projects and initiatives that aim to support healthy people and healthy places. Our primary focus is on:

  • promoting health and wellbeing
  • encouraging people and communities to be actively involved in their health care decisions
  • reducing health inequities
  • developing local actions that address local needs.

By engaging communities in decisions about their health and wellbeing we aim to empower communities and work in partnership with them to create environments that support health and wellbeing, build resilience within communities and identify local actions to address local needs.
We are also responsible for the local implementation of statewide programs that focus on a range of health related risk factors such as smoking, obesity and falls prevention.

  • reduce health inequities
