SESLHD Intellectual Disability Health Service
What does Intellectual Disability Health Service (IDHS) provide?
- A multidisciplinary health assessment. The team consists of an adult psychiatrist, adult rehabilitation, developmental paediatrician, nursing, social work and an occupational therapist.
- A Health Care Plan with recommendations.
- Referrals to health and other services as needed.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible for this clinical service a child, adolescent or adult with an intellectual disability will have complex health conditions, a current unresolved health problem and health care needs that cannot be met by usual care providers.
The team does not provide routine reviews and will refer to health and other services as needed.
The team can provide advice, information and resources to General Practitioners and the other clinicians who will provide ongoing health care to the client.
