Cardiology Department
Our team consists of dedicated medical, nursing, cardiac sonography, allied health and administrative staff looking after patients with heart disease presenting acutely to The Sutherland Hospital.
We are co-located with the Sutherland Heart Clinic where we provide a 24/7 cath lab service for cardiac emergencies. Acute, unstable patients are admitted to our 9 bed CCU (Coronary Care Unit), or 20 bed step-down ward, Yarrabee.
Our outpatient clinics facilitate early review of patients attending The Sutherland Hospital Emergency Department (chest pain/exercise stress test clinic and atrial fibrillation clinic), and early follow-up of complex cardiac and heart failure admissions (General Cardiology follow-up clinic). Early follow-up cardiac imaging for Sutherland hospital acute medical and psychiatry inpatients is offered at our echocardiogram clinic.
Ongoing care is integrated with our Cardiac Rehabilitation and Heart and Lung teams, and our cardiologists in the community.
