All the small things...
Throughout the month of February we’ve been running the All The Small Things Campaign to make life at work that little bit easier, make the day a little smoother; to take away the things that annoy you.
We received more than 1000 responses from staff telling us about all the things that get in your way, waste our resources and stop you doing your job. A huge thanks to everyone that took the time to get in touch – your feedback will be used to make positive changes to build a better SESLHD.
The survey may be closed now but we’re not stopping. We are determined to address all the small things that we can and over the coming weeks we’ll keep updating this page with our progress. And if you left your contact details with your small thing, we’ll be in touch with you directly. It will take some time to get through them all, but we’ll keep going until we do.
Here’s a recap of the small things we’ve implemented already – thanks to you.
Small thing 1: Avalanche of emails
Based on the feedback of many of you, we’re reducing the avalanche of emails in your inbox. We did some digging and discovered that there are over 1200 email distribution lists in SESLHD!
We’ve disabled the ‘reply all’ on all the email lists we found that cover all staff in a hospital or service. We’re in the process of identifying the owners of all the other lists and will work with them to set restrictions on who can send an email and who can ‘reply all’. We’re also working on easy ways to add yourself to, or remove yourself from, any distribution list.
Small thing 2: Fleet car signage frustration
We heard a great idea from Sutherland Hospital about the frustration in trying to find your allocated fleet car in the carpark.
The Director of Corporate Service has taken on the task to determine whether either the suggested numbered bays or alternatively allocated spots would be the best solution for fleet vehicles, without compromising the staff and volunteers who also utilise the car park.
Small thing 3: Communication across the district
Communication across the District can be a challenge and we’ve heard from you that simply finding the right phone number to get in touch with colleagues can be frustrating.
This link - https://lookup.health.nsw.gov.au/ - makes it quick and easy for all of us to update our contact details in the directory. This is a small thing that you can do for everyone’s benefit. Click here for a guide that shows the simple steps for updating.
Small thing 4: Milk supplies in tearooms
Milk has become a hot topic in recent weeks with some confusion over the policy for supplying milk in tearooms. Tea, coffee, sugar and milk should be available to staff and the process for ordering is outlined here: https://bit.ly/32wCRLs (SESLHD PD/321)
We’ve worked out the specific issue at St George Hospital with supplying the staff tearoom, so there should be plenty of milk available for your tea and coffee now!
Don’t forget to check back in here regularly to hear about what we’re doing with your small things.
