KRC South is a primary Needle and Syringe Program located on the grounds of The Sutherland Hospital at Caringbah.

KRC South is a ‘drop in’ centre with no bookings needed.
We provide the following anonymous and confidential services free of charge:
- New sterile injecting equipment (unlimited supplies)
- Safe sex supplies
- Advice, education and referral regarding injecting drug use and sexual health issues
- Health promotion activities
- Work and Development Orders
- Opioid overdose management training and supplies
- Monthly hepatitis clinic
- Dried Blood Spot testing for HIV and Hepatitis C – just from a fingerprick
- Mobile Needle and Syringe service
KRC South is staffed by one part-time and two full-time experienced health education officers. They can supply injecting equipment as well as provide helpful information and advice. This includes referrals and resources around safer injecting, blood-borne viruses and sharps management.
Other needle syringe services
KRC South is also responsible for the other needle syringe services in the southern sector of the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District, overseeing three secondary outlets, two automatic dispensing machines, three internal dispensing chutes and four community sharps disposal bins to provide needle and syringe services in the area.

KRC South is closely involved in the local community and is a member of various committees such as Community Drug Action Team (St George), Sutherland Shire Local Drug Action Team, Sutherland Shire & St George Youth Networks and Sexual Health Outreach Workers Network (SHOWnet). Staff also partner with local councils, NGOs, youth and health agencies to promote and increase awareness around issues affecting its clients.
