Pre-Invasive and Colposcopy Service
The pre-invasive and colposcopy service is an outpatient service providing diagnosis and treatment for pre cancer and cancer conditions of the vulva and cervix including:
- Colposcopy
- Vulvoscopy
- LLETZ procedure
- Laser to vulva
Clinic days:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Hours of operation:
8.30 am - 4.30 pm.

Who can attend this service:
- This service is for South Eastern Sydney Residents (Postcodes 2010, 2011, 2015, 2017 to 2036).
- We also accept some country referrals.
Referrals:
- All appointments require a current REFERRAL from a GP.
- The referral must be either faxed to 02 93982 6728 or sent via email seslhd-rhwcolposcopyreferrals@health.nsw.gov.au.

The role of the Colposcopy clinic is to carry out further investigations for an abnormal Cervical Screening Test result and/or the presence of symptoms.
Women with pre cancer changes of the cervix, vulva and or vagina.
Colposcopy is the examination of the cervix using a colposcope. The procedure is not painful, but may be slightly uncomfortable, similar to having a pap smear. We may also take a biopsy (small piece of tissue) from the cervix or vagina.
You may experience some bleeding or discharge particularly if you have undergone a biopsy. You will be advised about after care by our team.
The appointment will take approximately 30 minutes but the colposcopy procedure is quick and will only take 5 to 10 minutes.
Yes. You can attend with your period.
Yes. You can return to work the same day as Colposcopy.
We can provide you with a medical certificate of attendance for your workplace if necessary.
There is NO cost for patient who have a Medicare card.
There is a cost involved for Medicare ineligible patients. Please contact the service to discuss.
4 weeks to 5 months.
Appointments are triaged depending on the urgency of the referral.
