The Royal Hospital for Women is committed to providing culturally sensitive and accessible healthcare to women and families from diverse backgrounds. Our comprehensive multicultural health services ensure that language and cultural barriers do not prevent you from receiving the highest quality care.
We offer cultural and language support in all parts of our hospital. This includes care during pregnancy and birth, women's health services, cancer care, and newborn care. We know that understanding your culture and language is very important for good healthcare. Our staff are trained to give you respectful care that honours your cultural values and what matters to you.
Cross Cultural Worker Services
The Cross-Cultural Worker in Maternity & Child & Family Health Services provides a FREE and CONFIDENTIAL service for women and families from migrant and refugee backgrounds, and International students who are birthing and/or using child and family health services at the Royal Hospital for Women. This specialised service offers cultural support and advocacy to help navigate the healthcare system during pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood. For more information click here.

Interpreter Services
You can contact us by calling the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) on 131 450. Tell the operator what language you speak and ask the interpreter to set up a telephone conversation between you, an interpreter, and the healthcare professional you want to speak with.
Interpreting services are FREE and CONFIDENTIAL and support effective communication throughout your care journey, from initial consultations through to discharge and follow-up appointments. For more details on Sydney Healthcare Interpreting Services follow the link.
