Disability Services

The Developmental Assessment Service (DAS) provides a comprehensive range of multidisciplinary and inter-agency clinic services for people with developmental delay or disability and intellectual disability across age groups.

The DAS also provides therapy support for students with physical disability in schools and medical support for community paediatric clinics for vulnerable populations, out-of-home care, refugee and Aboriginal groups.

The DAS is based at the old PO building Kogarah in close proximity to St George Hospital. Many of the services are conducted offsite, including preschools, schools, group homes, day programs and community health and hospital settings.

What sort of help is offered?

We have preschool, school-aged, transition and adult clinics. The DAS offers a wide range of subspecialty clinics including

  • General Medicine
  • Gastroenterology
  • Sleep
  • Angelman
  • Genetics.

Who is eligible?

The Kogarah Developmental Assessment Service (DAS) sees clients who mostly live in the southern sector of the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District.

The School Therapy Team (STT) sees school age students with physical disabilities.

The Metro-Regional Intellectual Disability (MRID) network sees clients in other metropolitan and regional areas of NSW with a focus in the Illawarra.

A referral from a GP or specialist is generally required.
