The Inspiring Ideas Challenge (TIIC)
Innovation for improvement is about doing things differently or doing new things to make positive change. There are various definitions of innovation in health care but they all focus on introducing new methods, technologies or ideas to make someone or something better (The Health Foundation 2015).
The aim of the projects funded through the TIIC program is to improve the health and wellbeing of patients, staff and / or the broader community, through the application of innovative ideas.
Over the last 3 years, over 50 innovative ideas have been funded from 235 applications across SESLHD with an annual Pitch Event held for teams to pitch their innovative ideas to an expert panel. TIIC is open to all staff in SESLHD, both clinical and non-clinical with calls for applications occuring in February each year with teams supported across the span of their project by the Innovation Team.
- Encourage staff to share their innovative ideas to improve health outcomes for our patients, staff and community across SESLHD
- Assist services to develop innovative approaches and ideas to improve health care quality
- Build a portfolio of innovation projects readily available to others
- Contribute to and generate ideas as a SESLHD community
- Build capacity and capability in our staff to drive innovation
