About the SESLHD Health Management Graduate Program

The SESLHD Health Management Graduate Program is designed to develop skilled and capable health leaders and managers for the future. Participants in the program are known as Management Trainees.

The SESLHD Health Management Graduate Program is a broad and comprehensive two-year program with two main components: 

  1. Workplace Component
    Participants in the SESLHD Health Management Graduate Program work full-time for SESLHD, undertaking placements of 3-6 months duration through such areas as Hospital Management, Human Resources, Finance and the Executive Unit.

    Throughout the program, SESLHD provides participants with a range of professional development opportunities, including training, attendance at conferences and events, and mentoring, designed to support and develop participants and prepare them for a successful career. 

  2. Academic Component
    To complement the workplace learning and accelerate their knowledge, Management Trainees undertake a funded Master of Health Management on a part-time basis and in online mode. SESLHD is proud to partner with the University of New South Wales (UNSW) for the delivery of the academic component of the program.

Throughout the program, the progress of Management Trainees is assessed against the NSW Public Sector Capability Framework.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for the program you must:

  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Have completed an undergraduate degree in a related field from a recognised university provider.

Your degree not does have to be health-specific. A broad range of fields may be suitable, such as business, law, economics, science, policy or sociology, for example.

Applications for the 2020 intake closed on Sunday 7 July 2019. 

Information on the 2021 intake will be available in early 2020. 

Please ensure you read all the information in the job advertisement and attach all required documentation when applying, as only complete applications will be considered. 

Application Process

The application process for the program has three stages:

  • Application submitted online
  • Group interview and skills assessment centre
  • Individual interviews

Interviews will be held in Sydney.
