Volunteer with us
There are several volunteer programs running across Prince of Wales Hospital. Our volunteers are valuable members of our health care team and enable us to maintain our wide range of services and support for patients and their visitors.
The Prince of Wales Hospital Volunteer Service is an independent auxiliary group who run a gift shop which provides a selection of small gifts and donated goods including books. The profits made through the gift shop go directly back to the hospital.
The opening hours are 10am to 2pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The gift shop is located on level 1 of the Clinical Sciences Building.
For enquiries telephone 9382 2119.
The profits made through the coffee shop go directly back to the Hospital through an annual grants program.
Our POWH Volunteer Service also provide:
- Guides who help people to find their way around the hospital. They can be found at the information counters at the High Street, Barker Street and Acute Services Building entrances.
- A mobile library offering books to patients on the wards.
- A mobile trolley service that sells toiletries and snacks on the wards.
- Ward Visitors who visit patients on the wards, listen to their concerns and provide hand massages.
- Administrative support for different ward areas.
- A wig library that lends wigs and sells head coverings at very reduced prices. The service is available to anyone undergoing cancer treatment with associated hair loss. The wig library is located off the waiting area in the Bright Building and is available on Wednesdays from 9am to 1pm. Please contact the Coordinator on 9382 5094 and leave a message when unattended.
