If you are caring for a person receiving healthcare services through the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District, there are hospital and community resources available to support you in being a partner in their care.

REACH

Carers NSW

Carers NSW is the peak non-government organisation for carers in NSW that focuses on providing holistic support, independent information, and resources.

Carers NSW provides a free training and support to carers. There are carer support groups which enable you to meet and connect with other carers who understand the challenges of caring. 

Carer Gateway

The Australian Government website and call centre, Carer Gateway, is an entry point for carers to access practical information and advice, online supports and services in their local area. This includes counselling, respite services, peer support and financial packages/information. Information is available in several languages.

Service NSW

Service NSW provides comprehensive lists of contacts, programs, payments and concessions that are available to carers.

Companion Card

The NSW Companion Card program is for people with significant and permanent disability who need a high level of care in the community. The Companion Card allows a cardholder's support person free entry into participating venues and events. 

NSW Healthcare Complaints Commission

NSW Healthcare Complaints Commission acts to protect public health and safety by resolving, investigating and prosecuting complaints about healthcare. 

Services Australia

Services Australia provides payments and services to support people providing temporary or ongoing care, including help if you need to take time off work to care for someone.

Multicultural Disability Advocacy Association of NSW (MDAA)

MDAA is the peak body for all people in NSW with disability and their families and carers, with a particular focus on those from a culturally and linguistically diverse background. 

NSW Family and Carer Mental Health Program 

The NSW Family and Carer Mental Health Program is a statewide program that works in partnership to improve the wellbeing of families and carers of people with mental health conditions and the people they support.
