Culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) self-assessment tool

Multicultural Health have developed a self-assessment tool for use by SESLHD clinical services and facilities to support the provision of culturally responsive health care to people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. The tool is not mandatory but can assist with identifying identify quality improvement activities and is mapped to relevant strategic priorities, actions and objectives.

Mongolian Community: Needs and Assets Project

In 2022, Multicultural Health commissioned the Centre for Primary Health Care and Equity (CPHCE) at UNSW to conduct a needs and assets assessment of the Mongolian community living in the SESLHD area. This is a new and emerging community in SESLHD.

As a follow up to this report, Multicultural Health funded a Mongolian Mothers and Children’s Group in partnership with Kogarah Storehouse, Aus-Mon Community Services and SESLHD Mental Health and Child, Youth and Family Services to deliver a program to improve mental health, wellbeing and social contact of women, and to build their knowledge and skills to access community and health services.

Use of machine translation in health care settings

Multicultural Health partnered with other Local Health Districts, the Ministry of Health and UNSW to investigate the use of machine translation in health settings.
