Campaigns and Events
DonateLife Week
DonateLife Week is the national awareness week to promote organ and tissue donation in Australia.
Each DonateLife Week, Australians are encouraged to register to be an organ and tissue donor and to have a conversation about it with their family and friends.
The DonateLife Week Supporter Kit becomes available in the lead up to DonateLife Week and features a range of resources that you can use to help promote organ and tissue donation during DonateLife Week. The kit includes posters, online banners, newsletter articles, key messages and promotion material to use across social media. Download the latest supporter kit here: donatelife.gov.au/get-involved/donatelife-week
Every year, activities and events take place across NSW as part of DonateLife Week.
Lights, Camera, Donate!
Lights, Camera, Donate! is a film contest initiative supported by Flickerfest. Our mission is to motivate young filmmakers to create films about organ and tissue donation to raise awareness amongst young people, a critically under-registered group.
We will be accepting submissions from all around Australia, until November 1st. Selected entries will be screened live at the Bondi Pavillion in a special event during Flickerfest 2025, on January 25th.
To see full guidelines, dates and prizes, and to submit, visit https://filmfreeway.com/LightsCameraDonate.
Jersey Day
Jersey Day has been inspired by the story of Nathan Gremmo who tragically lost his life in an accident in 2015. Nathan’s family chose to give the gift of life to others to honour the legacy of Nathan’s generous personality.
Jersey Day is all about raising awareness of organ and tissue donation. On Jersey Day, schools and workplaces across Australia don their favourite sporting jersey to show their support.

Saffron Day
22 October 2024
Sunday 22 October 2023 is Saffron Day, a day that honours Deyaan Udani, a seven year old boy who tragically passed away on a family holiday in 2016. Deyaan and his older sister Naisha had learned about organ and tissue donation at school. The siblings told their parents they wanted to be organ donors to help save the lives of others.
Deyaan's family came up with the idea of Saffron Day because orange was Deyaan's favourite colour and symoblises courage, strength and sacrifice, qualities seen in Deyaan. On this day, Australians are urged to 'Do it for Deyaan' by registering their decision to become an organ and tissue donor.

Service of Remembrance
The NSW Organ & Tissue Donation Service hosts an annual service of reflection and remembrance for those who have generously given the gift of life to others through organ and tissue donation. The Service of Remembrance is an opportunity for those to come together and pay special tribute to donors and their families.
