Network Training Site - PMBH

Port Macquarie is the focal point of the Hastings area and the regional centre of the mid north coast. It is situated 420 km north of Sydney (4 hour drive or 1 hour flight). Port Macquarie has been appointed as the prestigious Fourth City of the Arts. There is a never-ending list of things to do and see in Port Macquarie and in the surrounding regions.
 
At PMBH, registrars are supported by a dynamic physician group actively interested in teaching and mentorship. The hospital has 161 beds incorporating specialist services, ICU/CCU, Neonatal ICU, Paediatrics, Obstetrics, Surgical, Short Stay, Medical Rehabilitation and Mental Health. The hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment of $110M which will be opened in 2015. UNSW has an established rural medical school at Port Macquarie for senior medical students. Shared accommodation is provided for BPTs rotating to PMBH.

Eight trainees are allocated to Port Macquarie Base Hospital each term. The rotations available in PMBH are General Medicine, Cardiology and Gastroenterology.
