NOW OPEN - RES-ON Research Funding Program
The RES-ON research funding program provides seed funding for research and evaluation projects that either develop evidence for healthcare interventions, or implement research findings into health care with the aim of improving services in SESLHD.
In 2025, there will be two RES-ON funding streams offered:
A. Translational research scheme that involves the implementation and uptake of interventions into health care services that have already been demonstrate to be efficacious; including Replicability and adaptability; Effectiveness, Scalability and Monitoring studies in the Sax Institute Translational Research Framework
B. Evidence-generating research scheme that involves research projects that develop the evidence for new interventions, including Idea Generation, Feasibility and Efficacy studies in the Sax Institute Translational Research Framework
Applications for Tranche A: Translational research scheme are now open, with submissions due by 5pm Thursday 7 August 2025.
Applicants must submit a completed application form, including Head of Department endorsement, for review by a panel from the SESLHD Collaborative Research Committee. The recipient(s) of the RES-ON research funding program will be awarded up to $40,000 per project from the SESLHD Collaborative Research Committee.

Closing Soon! Translational Research Grant Scheme (TRGS) Round 9
NSW Health invites local health districts, speciality health networks, NSW Ambulance and NSW Health Pathology to apply for funding. Grants are valued up to $500,000 and are awarded over 2.5 years.
In a change from previous rounds, expressions of interest will be managed by the host organisations. Expressions of interest are due to the SESLHD TRGS Coordinator 1 July 2025.
There are five priority research areas for Round 9:
- Early translation or implementation trials for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare
- Rare diseases diagnostic and care coordination models
- Locally identified needs
- Aboriginal health
- Rural health
There will be an information webinar on 2 June 2025, where more information regarding the application process and priority research areas will be presented. We encourage all potential applicants to attend.

RES-DISS Research Funding Program
The SESLHD Collaborative Research Committee's RES-DISS research funding program provides small funding allocations for SESLHD staff to help disseminate their findings from research undertaken in the District, with opportunities to provide financial support towards:
- presentation of papers at conferences
- payment of online peer-review journal fees
- other activities that contribute to research dissemination
Applicants must submit a completed application form for consideration by the Collaborative Research Committee. Applications can be submitted at any time throughout the year.
