Cancer Survivorship Service
How we can help you
Our service can help you if you are living with cancer or have had cancer and have had treatment from the Nelune Comprehensive Cancer Centre at Prince of Wales Hospital or the Royal Hospital for Women. We can support you in your recovery and help you with your health and wellbeing. If you are living with or have had cancer you may experience the following survivorship issues:
- fatigue and/or sleep issues
- menopausal symptoms
- difficulty with memory or concentration
- changes in diet and physical activity
- fear of the cancer coming back
- worry, anxiety, sadness, depression.
We have outpatient clinics where you can meet with health professionals to help you with these issues.
Our specialist health professionals include:
- A medical oncologist (cancer doctor) who specialises in cancer survivorship. They will assess your medical needs and support your recovery from cancer treatment and look to improve your well-being.
- A cardio-oncologist who is a doctor who specialises in management of heart conditions in people who have or had cancer.
- An exercise physiologist who can provide an individualised, supervised exercise program to help you with side-effects of treatments.
- A clinical psychologist who can help you transition to life after cancer
- A dietitian who can provide you guidance on what foods will give you good nutrition after cancer
- A Cancer Council Liaison Officer who can help you and your carers navigate information, emotional and practical support opportunities.
