Your patient will need a referral letter to use this service. Please submit this referral electronically via Healthlink using your practice software (Best Practice, Medical Director, Genie or MedTech) or via the MyHealthLink Portal. Further information may be found at Electronic Referrals at South Eastern Sydney Local Health District.
All mandatory information must be complete. Incomplete referrals will be returned and will not be processed until all the required information has been provided.
Once we receive this referral and accept it, real time notifications will be sent to the referrer and patients who opt in regarding their referral progress.
The referral will be triaged and your patient will be placed in a waitlist for the next available appointment. When your patient's appointment has been confirmed, we will notify them by sending a letter to their home address confirming the date, time and location of their appointment.
We will also send this letter to you, the referring doctor.
A referral to a named specialist allows the hospital to bulk bill Medicare for the service. However, if the patient exercises their right to be a Public Patient or the referral does not include the name of one of our specialists, this will not affect their treatment in any way.
