Murnaghan Urology Centre - Information for Health Professionals

We offer a wide range of inpatient and outpatient urology services by Urologists and specialised nursing staff.

The service is supported by ancillary services, such as Radiology, Pathology, Radiotherapy, Oncology and Nephrology.

We provide a wide range of procedures to treat:

  • Urinary tract infections including: Urethritis, Cystitis, Pyelonephritis.
  • Urinary tract obstructions and retention including: benign prostatic hyperplasia of the prostate, pelvic tumors, stones, urethral narrowing or stricture, trauma.
  • Renal calculi.

Our procedures include:

  • Urodynamic studies
  • Cystoscopy
  • Ureteroscopy
  • Pyeloscopy
  • Percutaneous nephrolithotomy 
  • Transurethral resection of Prostate.
  • Transurethral resection of Bladder tumor
  • Botox injection is a procedure to relax the bladder muscle and therefore relieves bladder urgency and frequency.
  • Suprapubic catheter insertion
  • Circumcision
  • Vasectomy
  • Orchidectomy

All clinics are held at the Murnaghan Urology Centre, Level 3, Clinical Sciences Building, Prince of Wales Hospital, Randwick.

Outpatient clinics:

The Registrar Urology Clinic requires a referral from a GP. 

The Urology Continence Clinic with our Clinical Nurse Specialist requires a referral from a Urologist.

Please submit this referrals electronically via Healthlink using your practice software (Best Practice, Medical Director, Genie or MedTech) or via the MyHealthLink Portal. Further information may be found at Electronic Referrals at South Eastern Sydney Local Health District.

All mandatory information must be complete. Incomplete referrals will be returned and will not be processed until all the required information has been provided.

Once we receive this referral and accept it, real time notifications will be sent to the referrer and patients who opt in regarding their referral progress.

The referral will be triaged and your patient will be placed in a waitlist for the next available appointment. When your patient's appointment has been confirmed, we will notify them by sending a letter to their home address confirming the date, time and location of their appointment.

We will also send this letter to you, the referring doctor.
