Your patient will need a referral letter to use this service. Please submit this referral electronically via Healthlink using your practice software (Best Practice, Medical Director, Genie or MedTech) or via the MyHealthLink Portal. Further information may be found at Electronic Referrals at South Eastern Sydney Local Health District.
All mandatory information must be complete. Incomplete referrals will be returned and will not be processed until all the required information has been provided.
Once we receive this referral and accept it, real time notifications will be sent to the referrer and patients who opt in regarding their referral progress.
The referral will be triaged and your patient will be placed in a waitlist for the next available appointment. When your patient's appointment has been confirmed, we will notify them by sending a letter to their home address confirming the date, time and location of their appointment.
We will also send this letter to you, the referring doctor.
Please ensure the following tests are completed prior to your patient's initial appointment:
- Blood tests (FBC, EUC, LFT, CMP, B12/folate, TFT, fasting glucose), if none within the last 6 months
- Imaging (MRI Brain) confirming diagnosis of MS
Urgent Referrals
For urgent referrals, please call Professor Arun Krishnan through the Hospital Switchboard on 02 9382 2222.
We will send your patient a letter by post with their appointment details.
If their need is urgent, a member of our administrative team will contact your patient by phone.
You may contact the MS Clinic Secretary on (02) 9382 2414 to follow up on a referral.
If a patient misses an appointment without notice, a "Did Not Attend" letter will be posted to the patient and faxed to the referring doctor/general practitioner advising them to contact the clinic to rebook or to attend their GP to discuss alternative options should they not want to continue to attend the clinic.
If the patient cancels in advance, a cancellation letter is posted to the patient advising of the cancellation as well as being faxed to the referring doctor/general practitioner to advise the patient has cancelled their appointment. This way the referring doctor/general practitioner can discuss with the patient whether a further appointment needs to be made and re-referral occur.
We are a Medicare service. You must provide a referral that is addressed to Professor Arun Krishnan, so your patient can be bulk-billed.
